Accelerator Pedal
The accelerator, or gas pedal, is used with the right foot to control the speed of the car by increasing or decreasing the flow of fuel to the engine. This occurs when the car is in gear and the clutch plates are together. The pedal requires little pressure to operate as should be used intricately.Gas Pedal

Footbrake
The footbrake operates brakes on all four wheels and is used to slow the car down. Your right foot should swivel from the accelerator to the footbrake whilst your heel remains on the floor. The pedal should be pressed progressively firmer so you reach the speed you need. As you do this the weight of the car will move to the bonnet. Its should always be smoothly released. (squeeze and ease). When you press this pedal brake lights illuminate at the back of the car to warn drivers behind you that you are slowing.

Clutch Pedal
The clutch pedal is used with the left foot to break the link between the engine and the wheels by separating the clutch plates. You use it when changing gear, setting off and stopping. Where the clutch plates meet is called ‘the biting point’. The clutch should always be released very slowly and intricately as you pass this point.Clutch

Hand Controls
The Gear Stick
The gear stick is used with the clutch to select the gears. There are usually 5 or 6 forward gears and 1 reverse gear. Between the gears there is a central position called neutral where no gear is selected. The palming method should be used to operate this properly and reduce he chance of selecting an incorrect gear.Gears
The Handbrake
The handbrake is used to hold the car still after it has stopped. It should not be used when the car is moving as this will damage it.
To apply the handbrake pull the lever upwards until it tightens and secures the car. To release the handbrake lift the lever slightly to enable you to press the button and push the lever all the way to the bottom of its travel.Handbrake
The Steering Wheel
The steering wheel is used to turn the front wheels when changing direction. You should normally hold the wheel with your hands in the ‘9 and 3’ position. The ‘pull-push’ method should be used to ensure maximum contact with the wheel when turning.steering wheel 9 and 3
The Indicators
The indicator stalk is usually located to the left of the steering wheel. To signal simply move the stalk in the same direction as the the steering wheel moves for the manoeuvre.
